Another Kind of Dessert

This recipe was both simple and delicious.  It consists mostly of chopped nuts, but is so much more.

The ancient recipe called for minced rue, which I substituted with orange zest.  It also calls for passum, a boiled down wine sweetened with honey.

Ingredients:

• 1 1/2 cups Coursely ground nuts (almonds, walnuts, pistachios, etc)
• 1/2 cup Coursely ground pine nuts
• Honey, to taste
• 1 tsp Orange zest 
• 1/4 cup Passum 
• 1/4 cup Milk
• 2 eggs
• Pepper, to taste

Mix all of the ingredients together.  From here, the translation says to "boil the dough".  I put the mixture in a 8" round cake pan that I had lined with foil and baked on 350 with everything else for about 20 minutes until the nuts seemed to be turning golden.  I then added more honey on top and baked for a few more minutes before removing completely from the oven.
